Hi! I'm Stefanie

(but most people call me Stef)

I'm a recent graduate from the UBC Sauder School of Business with a specialization in Business Technology Management and a minor in International Relations. I hope to combine my passion in technology with an empathetic understanding of current issues to solve big problems and make the world a better place :)

Work I'm proud of

I'm endlessly grateful for the opportunities I've had, which have led me to be involved in these amazing experiences:

    • Where I developed my product sense in a cross-functional, international team environment
    • Where I was first introduced to the venture capital and startup community in Vancouver
    • Where I learned how to deliver B2B SaaS solutions in an agile framework
    • Where I supported the life sciences community during the peak of Covid-19
    • Where I was nominated twice (& won) the Commerce Undergraduate Society Empowerment Award and Unsung Champion Award for building strong teams and an even stronger community

And a few other things I thought were cool:

Projects

Product development competitions where I practiced my product ideation, feature definition, prioritization, GTM strategy, and prototyping skills.

Onbord is the onboarding platform that delivers a people-first experience to directly tackle feelings of isolation in a new remote workspace. Onbord won First Place at the UBC Product Management Club's Produthon competition, earning $1000 in seed funding.

Kickback is a content sharing desktop application that allows communities to watch their favourite Netflix shows together.

Creo is a tablet app and learning management system (LMS) with the purpose of introducing different facets of design to high school students.

About me

I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada as a second-generation Chinese Canadian. My parents were the first in their families to pursue corporate careers and I always look up to them as kick-ass professionals but also kick-ass people!

I entered UBC in a specialized economics program. Quickly realizing it wasn't right for me, I began the long process of transferring programs. I finally landed at the UBC Sauder School of Business with an eclectic academic history. Taking Computer Science as my first-year electives, I found my passion for technology amongst my peers at UBC BizTech. However in the last five years of school and work, I've found an even bigger passion for being a well-rounded learner.

What I like to...

📚 Read: I've been enthralled by sci-fi/fantasy lately so I'm currently reading the Dune series. Also making my way through The Lean Product Playbook by Dan Olsen.

📺 Watch: Most nights I'm watching Netflix and I love all things comedy or animation, specifically youth fantasy animation! Some of my favourite shows include Parks and Recreation, Bojack Horseman, and Avatar the Last Airbender.

🎧 Listen: I love a good playlist or podcast for my commute. My favourite album right now is Never Enough by Daniel Caesar and favourite podcast is How to Save a Planet

💃 Do: In my free time, you can usually find me at a dance class (ballet as a kid, hip hop as an adult), a local concert, or just at home hanging out with my dog. I also *dabble* in amateur film photography (35mm canon point and shoot). I recently started playing Switch games and have been enjoying Ori and the Blind Forest.
